Antique St. George PendantThe legend of St. George and the Dragon was first recorded in text around the 11th Century. When St. George arrived in Silene, Libya the city was taken over by a dragon. The villagers were feeding the dragon two sheep a day in order to defer the dragon. When the sheep weren't enough the city was forced to sacrifice humans. At that time the kings daughter was in line to be sacrificed. St. George killed the dragon with a lance before the princess was in line. The king was so happy that he offered St. George treasures. St. George gave all treasures to the poor. The people were so amazed they were all Baptized and became Christians.
